Faced with a series of unfolding events, Public Information Officers (PIOs) from police and first responder forces around Washington, DC, must work together to craft and share accurate and timely information with the public about the ongoing situation.
PIOs will track and sort information flowing to them from various internal and external channels, including their own agencies, traditional news media, and social media. They'll need to assess the veracity and importance of all this information, decide what misinformation to discount -- or counter, and put out meaningful responses to help protect public safety.
Roles include the US Capitol Police, DC Fire & EMS, DC Metropolitan PD, FBI, Metro Transit PD, Arlington County PD, Montgomery County PD, Prince George's County PD.
A detailed scenario is provided along with private role sheets to give participants additional information about their assigned role.
