India-Pakistan Crisis

A wave of terrorist attacks in the capital of New Delhi sparks tensions between India and its neighbor and longtime rival Pakistan in this crisis simulation. Suspicions run rampant as the two countries, along with the UN and the United States, engage in high-pressure negotiations.

Roles include the governments of India, Pakistan, and the United States, as well as the Pakistani military and the United Nations. Participants attempt to resolve the crisis and keep it from destabilizing the sub-continent, or even escalating into a full-scale war. Instructors take an active role in sending news updates (pre-loaded) and other messages in this simulation to provide additional realism. A scenario is provided along with a private role sheet to give students additional information about their assigned role's positions and interests. Appropriate for courses in international relations, regional studies, and crisis decision-making, among others.
